Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has neglected to clarify Andy Carroll future, fuelling speculation the striker is on way out of the club.
Reports continue to claim Carroll’s days at Anfield are numbered, even though he became the club’s record signing when he arrived from Newcastle for £35m only last year.
It is understood that Carroll, while formidable in the air, is not deemed a good fit for the pass-and-move style new manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to deploy.
And Werner was coy when asked about his career prospects on Merseyside, telling Sky Sports News: “The only thing i can say is we will do whats best for the club.
“At the moment, Andy is on the squad. He was an important member of the English team, he’s got a lot of talent and we’ll see what happens there.
“Brendan is clearly the leader here and hopefully the question will be answered shortly but at moment Andy is on the team and we’re looking forward to his contributions.”
